Electric Medium Duty Work Trucks
Based in the heart of Detroit at Newlab/Michigan Central, ZMD Motors was founded in 2025 in Detroit with a clear purpose: to bring practical electrification to the backbone of commercial work—medium duty trucks.
While much of the automotive industry is navigating uncertainty around electric vehicles (EVs), a critical segment has been overlooked: the Class 4–6 work trucks that power job sites, service fleets, and essential infrastructure every day.
ZMD Motors is closing that gap.

About ZMD Motors
Founded On Experience
Our founding leadership and board bring decades of vehicle product development experience to launch the venture. In our seed stage of development, ZMD is raising initial funds and creating industry relationships to turn its vision into reality. Understanding the key requirements of commercial fleets is much different than delivering personal-use retail EV product to the market. Unlike ZMD, most offerings in electrification of commercial trucks are either light duty pickups with base/fleet trim packages or for last-mile delivery applications such as with vans and box trucks. ZMD Motors was founded with a laser focus on the class 4-6 chassis-cab work truck, typically restricted to a specific locality and with daily dispatch from servicing depots.
